What is Stage 1 ECU remapping

Stage 1 ECU remapping is a software-only change to the engine control unit. We keep the original hardware — turbo, injectors, fuel system — and adjust the calibration so the engine can use more of its built-in potential. The aim is a stronger, more flexible torque curve, better response and smoother delivery rather than chasing headline figures. We always run diagnostics and a pre-tuning health check before we start.

Expected performance gains

Actual gains depend on the engine, hardware and condition, but as a guide:

• Turbo diesel engines often see around 25–35% extra torque with a Stage 1 remap.
• Turbo petrol engines typically see around 20–30% power increase alongside improved drivability.
• Economy improvements are possible on many vehicles, especially when driven sensibly after tuning.
