ECU remapping unlocks the potential already built into your engine. At KP Tuning we write custom maps for your specific vehicle using your original ECU data, so you get results tailored to your car — not a generic file. Whether you're after a performance remap, an economy remap for better fuel consumption, or turbo diesel tuning and diesel remapping, we offer engine tuning that suits your goals. We work across North Wales, Wrexham, Denbighshire, Chester, the Wirral, Shropshire, Manchester and surrounding areas, and we come to you.
The engine control unit (ECU) manages fuel, ignition and boost. Manufacturers often use conservative calibrations to suit a wide range of fuels, climates and emissions standards. Remapping adjusts these calibrations to improve power, torque and drivability while keeping the engine safe. Every vehicle we work on receives a free pre-tuning health check so we only proceed when the car is in good shape.
Most of our work is a stage 1 remap: no hardware changes, just software. Typical gains range from around 20–35% for turbo diesel engines and 20–30% for turbo petrol. Naturally aspirated engines see smaller but still noticeable improvements. Actual results depend on the vehicle, engine condition and hardware. A Stage 1 remap is software-only engine tuning: we adjust the ECU calibrations for fuel, ignition and boost without changing any hardware. It is the most common type of performance or economy remap and is suitable for most road cars in good condition.
When done properly with a custom map and a pre-tuning health check, ECU remapping is safe. We only proceed if the vehicle is in good health and we use conservative limits where appropriate. We do not overstate gains or push engines beyond sensible limits.
