Stage 1 Remap · Denbighshire

Denbighshire driving asks something different of an engine than town driving does. Long distances between places, loaded vehicles, and hills that go on rather than pinch for a moment. We come out to you anywhere in the county and remap on your own yard or driveway.
The roads that shape driving in this county are the ones that climb. The A542 over the Horseshoe Pass, the pull up out of Llangollen, the run across the Denbigh Moors on the A543, and the sustained gradients on the lanes off the Clwydian Range. On roads like that the useful part of a remap is torque low in the rev range, because it means holding a gear instead of dropping two and sitting at high revs the whole way up. If you tow a livestock trailer or a horsebox, that is the same story with more weight behind it.

A Stage 1 remap adjusts the engine's ECU calibration, meaning fuelling, boost and ignition timing, to use the headroom the engine already has. No hardware changes are needed. We write a custom map for your specific vehicle from your original ECU data rather than loading a generic off the shelf file, and we run a free health check before any tuning to make sure the car is in a fit state to take it.
In a town, dropping a car off for the day is an inconvenience. In parts of Denbighshire it means a long drive, arranging someone to follow you and bring you back, and losing most of the day either way. That is one of the situations where it is easiest to feel, because sustained climbs with weight behind you are exactly where extra low end torque does something useful. We would still check the vehicle first and tell you if we did not think it was worth it on your engine.
Yes, provided there is somewhere safe to work and we can road test afterwards. Working where the vehicle sits is usually simpler than moving it, particularly if it is needed the same day.
A Stage 1 remap is a software only adjustment to the engine control unit. No hardware changes are needed. We adjust fuelling, boost and ignition to improve power, torque and drivability within safe limits.
When done properly, with a health check beforehand and sensible targets, Stage 1 remapping is safe on a healthy engine. We only proceed if the vehicle passes our checks, and we will tell you if it does not.
