A steady run at a constant speed towards Chester or down past Ruabon gives the car the conditions it needs to complete a regeneration properly, and doing that regularly is free. We mention it because a fair number of early stage DPF complaints improve with a change in driving before anyone needs to touch the vehicle, and we would rather tell you that than not.

A sustained run at a steady speed, for example along the A483, often lets the car finish a regeneration it has been starting and abandoning. If the light clears and stays off, the filter was loading rather than failing. If it comes back quickly, something else is going on and it is worth reading properly.
