Stage 1 Remap · Shropshire
Mobile Stage 1 remapping across Oswestry, Whitchurch, Ellesmere, Wem and Shrewsbury.
Real data. No commitment.
Shropshire covers a lot of ground and the vehicles here tend to be doing something. Towing, carrying, or simply eating up the miles between market towns. We come out to you and write the map around the way the vehicle is actually worked.
A vehicle pulling a loaded trailer spends its life in the part of the rev range where a Stage 1 map does the most good. Getting a livestock trailer moving out of a gateway, holding a gear on the pull up from the Severn valley, keeping pace on the A49 with weight behind you: all of that is torque low down rather than power at the top. Add the A5 and the A483 for the longer runs and you have a county where most of the driving is exactly the sort a remap suits. That does not mean it suits every engine, and we check first.
We cover Oswestry, Whitchurch, Ellesmere, Wem, Market Drayton and Shrewsbury, along with the villages between them, and we are regularly on the A483 and A5 towards Chirk, Ruabon and Wrexham. See our areas we cover page for the full list or get in touch to confirm we can reach you.
A Stage 1 remap adjusts the engine's ECU calibration, meaning fuelling, boost and ignition timing, to use the headroom the engine already has. No hardware changes are needed. We write a custom map for your specific vehicle from your original ECU data rather than loading a generic off the shelf file, and we run a free health check before any tuning to make sure the car is in a fit state to take it.
Tell us whether the vehicle tows, what it tows and how often, because it genuinely changes what we would recommend. A pickup that spends five days a week loaded is a different proposition to the same model doing the school run, and pretending otherwise would produce a map that suits neither. If the vehicle is used commercially, mention that too. We would rather have the real picture than a tidy one.
Most Stage 1 remap visits take around 1 to 2 hours from arrival to road test. As a general guide:
Actual results depend on your specific vehicle, engine condition and hardware. We will give you an honest estimate before any work begins, including telling you when we think the answer is no.
As well as Stage 1 remapping we also offer vehicle diagnostics in Shropshire, DPF and EGR solutions in Shropshire, and AdBlue solutions in Shropshire. If you have more than one issue — for example a fault light plus a desire for a remap — we can often address both in one visit.

Both are part of our normal coverage, along with Ellesmere, Wem, Market Drayton and Shrewsbury. Oswestry in particular is a short run for us down the A483.
Towing is where it is easiest to feel, because the useful change is torque low in the rev range and that is precisely what pulling weight uses. We would still check the vehicle condition first and tell you honestly if we did not think it was worth doing on your engine.
Yes, that is normal for us. We need somewhere safe to work and to be able to road test afterwards. Tell us about the access when you get in touch so there are no surprises on the day.
A Stage 1 remap is a software only adjustment to the engine control unit. No hardware changes are needed. We adjust fuelling, boost and ignition to improve power, torque and drivability within safe limits.
When done properly, with a health check beforehand and sensible targets, Stage 1 remapping is safe on a healthy engine. We only proceed if the vehicle passes our checks, and we will tell you if it does not.
If you are anywhere in Shropshire and want a straight answer about your vehicle, get in touch and tell us how it is used.
